The cost of Strike Off is minimal. After a company has been dormant for 3 months the directors can submit the application to Companies House. The fee that must be submitted with the application is just £10. There are no other costs that have to be paid.
As long as the application has been completed correctly notice of the proposed striking off will be published in the London Gazette. Given there no objections the company will be taken off the register after 3 months.
The Strike Off process is only suitable for companies that have no outstanding debt. If there are outstanding creditors they are likely to object to the company being closed in this way. Where the objections are valid the company will not be struck off.
If you are a director of a company that has debts that it is not in a position to pay you should consider a formal liquidation.
